Loafer Lust on ebay

Even though I treated myself and paid full retail ($600!) for my first pair of Aldens, I knew there was no way my budget would allow such indulgences on a regular basis.  Since then, my loafer collection has grown by leaps and bounds and I owe it all to eBay.

I regularly peruse the Alden/Brooks Brothers selection on eBay and I've purchased five pairs of used Aldens for less than what my one new pair cost.

The other day I stumbled across some listings that, I have to say,  got my juices flowing.  The seller's descriptions and photos were clearly aimed at loafer lovers. He sounds like someone who really "appreciates" a nice pair of loafers (maybe he reads this blog!).  Read the descriptions below and let me know what YOU think!

LIFE IS GOOD IN LOAFERS!
BETTER JUMP ON THESE LOW-CUT PENNIES . . . THEY’RE RARE!
NEED AN EXCITING PAIR OF BEAT PENNY LOAFERS?

10.5 M *** COLE HAAN TWO-TONE PENNY LOAFERS *** 10 1/2 D

I like shoeplay as much as the next guy ... but, man, I gotta tell you ... these slippery mothers got out of hand before I knew what was up.  Loads of fun on the short haul, but killers on the long haul:  cramped curled toes, slippin' heels, and everything else you'd expect from a pair of playful low cut loafers!

Hmmmmmm . . .
There was a time when these were new:  thick black uppers with contrasting brown vamp straps/throat trim/heel plates, low cut vamps, wide vamp straps with traditional penny slots, small tongues (the vamp appears even lower), full leather lining, leather sock liners, suede heel cups, leather soles, and stacked leather heels with rubber inserts.
Wasn't long before the fun began.  Now these babies slip and slip with a mind of their own.
These loafers are in beat condition.  The uppers are broken in, the insides exude a heady leather smell, the linings in the toe boxes are split, the sock liners and heel cups are slick with shoe play, the soles soft, and the heels are slightly rounded (go figure ... guess the heel cleats worked).    Only on eBay could you find such an exciting pair.  NICE!
If you’re a loafer loving guy (aren’t we all?) ready for a good time, I'm thinking these CHs belong on your playdate.

READY TO MOVE UP TO EXOTIC REPTILE SKIN LOAFERS?
9.5 M *** BROOKS BROTHERS ALLIGATOR/CROCODILE PENNY LOAFERS *** 9.5 D
The only thing better than a pair of low-cut penny loafers is a pair of low-cut alligator/crocodile penny loafers!  And these babies are made in Italy for BROOKS BROTHERS.  Loafer aficionados know BROOKS BROTHERS for stunning design and quality.  They offer some of the finest traditional loafers on the market.
And here’s a pair to get your pulse racing!
Loafer lovers sit back and feast your eyes on these BROOKS BROTHERS alligator/crocodile penny loafers:  rich dark brown alligator/crocodile uppers, extra low-cut hand sewn vamps, split toe stitching, penny straps with penny slots, short rounded tongues, rolled tongue and throat trim, heel foxing, leather linings, suede heel cups, full length leather sock liners, leather soles with narrow waists, and stacked leather heels with rubber inserts.
JEEZ!  What are the chances of finding a pair of these on eBay?   And, this LOW CUT?
These loafers are definately alligator/crocodile skins and not a printed leather, but I do not know if they are alligator or crocodile.  The skin looks just like my POLO Prescott Crocodile Camp Moc's skin, so I would go with crocodile.  Can any of you experts help?
These loafers are in very good condition.  The alligator/crocodile uppers are beautiful (no cracks or splits), the insides are clean with a heady leather smell, and the thick leather soles are rock solid.  The heels are rounded enough that I would consider new heel plates.
These loafers have been thoroughly sanitized, saddle soaped (yes, of course, you can wash reptile skin), air dried on cedar shoetrees, saturated with CADILLAC’s reptile cream conditioner, edge dressed with Fiebing’s Edge Dressing, and polished with MELTONIAN brown shoe cream.
They’re ready!
If you’re a loafer loving guy with champagne taste and style to match, I’m thinking these excellent loafers are for you.
